Selma,

I actually do have the book. I think you suggested getting the book in an AfriGeneas thread a while back so I got the book and that is my Dennis Evans. The author does a wonderful job at citing sources and this is how I found out about the free negro lists. I wonder if Dennis is related to John or Charles Evans. Hopefully the resources Hollis mentioned will help to uncover that.

Thank you for suggesting to get the book. It has really helped me to get an idea of what it was like for free blacks living in Prince Edward county during that time. It is exciting to read about an ancestor in a historical book.
