I located a marriage record for Joseph and Nancy Goings, 1801, Frederick Co. MD. The record does not share any other information regarding race, etc. On Ancestry, it shares that Nancy's maiden name is Windsor, which might link to the slave holding families in MD. How common would it be to have Joseph who is believed to be "mulatto" marry a Windsor? and still be alive to have children, etc. It is believed that they married in MD because VA didn't allow mixed marriages. Joseph is from VA. Any thoughts?
