Re: Common Given Names -James Grice
In Response To: Common Given Names ()
Alice, I have found that my Anglo American Ancestors named my African American ancestors who were their children the same names as their parents, sisters, brothers, etc. Those names are Benjamin, Polly, Thomas, etc. Also the same occurs with my native american descendants. I find that, though this naming pattern can be frustrating when you are trying to discover which Henry is which? It is also helpful in connecting families together with these naming patterns. I am also trying to find information about James Grice who appears to be a Free Person of Color on the 1850 Census in Sampson County, NC. My surnames in Sampson, Wayne, Edgecombe, and Bertie Counties are: Moore, Bunch, Hobbs, Herring, Lucas, Keen, and Ayres. Thanks, GiGi Messages In This Thread |
