Another cousin had given me a copy of a copy (and so on) of the hand written version.

I was also told that a journal was kept by the Hickman's as they made their journey to Illinois and at some point in recent time (i.e. 1980s) the journal was in the possession of a Hickman descendant (elderly woman) on the east coast. No name was mentioned.
