Idont know if griffe was replaced by the word quadroon or octoroon.I always thought all three words were used around the same time. Iguess it all depends on what document the researcher is gathering the information from about the individual. For instance Inever seen the word Quadroon or Octoroon on a census record, but those words may have been used on other documents to describe a person.
