Re: Thomas Lucas and Nathan Lucas
In Response To: Re: Thomas Lucas and Nathan Lucas ()
Tyronne, Nathan's name was changed to Fuller and I know that because that is what I always thought was my grandmother's maiden name. It appears that he does not change his name to Fuller until he marries Beadie. All the information back to he is 2 years old on the census list him as a Lucas, Locust, etc. except the one that lists him as a Warters (Waters) in the house with Peter Warters, who is later listed as Peter Fuller in 1880 with his wife Caroline who had the name change also. It appears that when Thomas and Bedie applied for his pension in 1894 (that is when he has alias Fuller) by his name. But he did enlist as a Lucas. I just came across a Charles Lucas, in Stafford County, VA who is a FPOC and it said his ancestors where Indians. He staid with a man named John R. Peyton and he was registered as a free man in the County Court of Augusta, VA. I am trying to go down this line now. Thank you for confirming the information about Bedia's mother.
