Hi, Maybe in LA the definition for mulatto was what you described at some point. I have actually seen info that shows that definition of mulatto in different states at different time periods was different or changed. As I understand it, the only consistent element in the definition is that there is an assumed African component. It could also mean that a person was part NA, EA or European or a combination of any of the above.
