Hi Judith,

I've encountered your Troy family at least twice in my research. One time when I was researching the Riddles from Buckingham, VA. Samuel Troy>Theodore Troy>Alvia Troy>Julian W. Chinn + Loretta Riddle.

In another case I was researching the ancestry of the writer Arna Bontemps to see if he had any connection to my own family (Criddle) since he was from the same parish in Louisiana and used our surname as the name of one of his characters in a novel. I never found any connection between my family (other than proximity) and Bontemps but his sister married a Troy in Los Angeles.

I never use to see a lot of connections between the families of people of color but lately I seen quite a few.

Ron
