Re: Lancaster Family of Fayette County PA
In Response To: Re: REDMANs in from VA in Fayette County PA ()
My Lancaster family line are in Fayette County, PA as early as 1802 I believe. Joseph Lancaster SR, and my Joseph Lancaster JR. there was also a Henry Lancaster there as early as 1802, but gone by 1807 according to tax records.
According to our census records they show they are from Virginia, but we have thought they possibly could have been from Maryland.
We don't have anything definitive on that. There was another branch of Lancasters in Fayette County as well who were definetly listed from Maryland in the census records.
I know that there was also a John Lancaster who was the earliest Lancaster in census records. Not sure if he is related. He may have been there in the late 1700's.
I believe there was a John Lancaster from Maryland who was bringing families from Maryland to Kentucky, going through Fayette County, picking up boats to go down the river.
If anything sounds familiar, let me know.
