WHat do you make of this? In 1800 a man's will states that his wife inherits all lands, tenements and four Negroes as long as she lives, then when she dies it all goes to a "Mollater Boy named Phillip which boy is now a slave to me which Boy I do set free when he arrives to the age of 21 he now being 12." Also this man does not appear to have children of his own - he leaves all all other propoerty to his niece - including 8 negroes, but if she dies before she marries or has children then those slaves are to go to Phillip! Also that "the boy Phillip should be "kept constant at school until he is sixteen and then to be bound to a good and respectful farmer until he is of age"
I think Phillip might be his son.
