Hello,
I am trying to determine if all African Americans listed in the 1860 US Census would be a FPOC. I have several family members listed and am looking for a source to determine their status.

Jane Winfield b. 1815, Petersburg, VA

Laura Thomton (Thornton) b. 1833, Stafford, VA

Any information on the history of the Thornton Family of that area would be greatly appreciated.
