Re: REDMANs in from VA in Fayette County PA
In Response To: Re: REDMANs in from VA in Fayette County PA ()
Hi I am the administrator of the REDMOND (& variant surnames project) associated with the Family Tree DNA lab at ...
Linda> some of his DNA info is posted on FTDNA Yes but not his REDMAN line. His closest REDMAN ancestor was a female, so the dna of Prof. GATES would not show any Y-dna concerning REDMANs. Linda> check the FTDNA surname projects for the Redman surname or check the R1b and is subclade projects and mailing lists. I believe Prof. GATES used to have his dna in the Cumberland-Gap group there. But when I just looked, I couldn't find it there now.
Brad> Do you happen to know what county they were from? I believe Prof. GATES actually has more than one REDMAN female who linked into his line. Some REDMANs related to Prof. GATES lived in the border area between Maryland & Virginia. Starting in 1888 members of the GATES family began to use MD,Cumberland,Rose-Hill-Cemetery for burials. The GATES farm of the early 1900s was near Plum. His ancestor John REDMAN who served in the American Revolutionary War was from VA,Hampshire-Co.
