Art: I would be interested to learn if you have any knowledge of these two people in your research. I am looking at VA Townsends and I am finding about 200 as FPC nationwide in 1860.

Nope, not until this AM when I read your message.

The 1860 Census, which you have, was interesting.

Ellen is found in the household of Jacob CASTLEMAN (29) and his wife (?) Marsha (25), children Josephine (6) and John (2), along with a Hannah (57).

All born in VA except John who is 2 y/o and born in Ohio, so they got into Ohio around 1857-58 as a unit (?).

What relation is Hannah to Jacob and Ellen? Mother, which one?

Kate (23) is found as a servant in the home of an attorney named Kennon (?). Is she a sister of Marsha and Ellen? And what is her relationship to Hannah, if any?

1870 Ohio, Belmont County, Richland Twp., Jacob Castleman, Marsha, Josephine, John and now a William. No Townsends in Belmont County.

1880 Ohio Census - LDS we find only 4 AA Townsends in Ohio with birthplace of Virginia.
