Hi!!! ok The Chevis 's are my husbands direct family, although they have intermarried into my family. So lets start with them. Most likely your John is probably one of the grandchildren of my John. The Chevis love that name John, they still do. To my knowledge all Chevis /Chavis come from John Shviers (Cheves) of the Carolinas. John William Chevis (also called Tom) b. 1842
J.C. is the son of William Chevis and Silevie (Celesie) Malveaux. William Chevis is the son of John Cheves and Marie Keisey ( was puzzled b/c i had found that eloise meuillion was the mother) Silevie Malveaux is the daughter of Malveau family partiarch Laurent Malveau and Constance Chretien on to meuillion My Eloise Meuillion was born on the German Coast (St.Charles , St. James,St. John area parish) Her parents were Jean Baptiste Meuillion b. 1769 German Coast,La. He was the son of the wealthiest sugar planter in Louisiana Don Luis Meuillion of the German Coast (also had residences in the N.O. French Quarter, and on Bayou Teche,La. (Leonville /Arnaudville area). and his former slave who had also become very wealthy due to making the right business moves , Maria (Marie) Juana Meuillion. Her mother was a slave of Don Luis Meuillion. Angelique Villere daughter of Joseph Roi de Villere and a slave and sister of Governor General Jacques VIllere. Her father did however purchase her freedom from Meuillion. Eloise Meuillion married Joseph Guillory Apr. 19 1903 note- her father J.B. Meuillion only fathered Eloise with Angelica. He married my Marie Celeste Donatto, also a grandmother on my Lemelle line. Messages In This Thread
