According to a census for 1840, Cabarrus County, N.C. there is a Joel House identified as a free person of color; however, I cannot seem to find documents or records on this individual to prove that it is so. I will assume that fpoc are not listed, right? Wonder how I can really prove anything on him. By the way, he is believed to be my greatgrandfather. My one proof to that is the fact that he is listed in three marriage certificates, one being the husband of my greatgrandmother Kaziah, and him being the father of my greandfather John House.
