Re: American Indian records-FPOC

blasting me for calling the Chavis family African American when it is well known they are actually Indians
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of hearing that. They are of mixed ancestry plain and simple. Yes, their origins may very well have been Native American, but the fact is they intermarried into families of known freed slaves (such at the Mayos, etc.) and pictures exist to show their features were dominantly African American (or I guess actually African) or in the case of John Chavis, the bust clearly shows an African American man. I find it ridiculous to completely deny part of a person's heritage just because they may identify more closely with another part.
