I cannot recall finding any Sampson named Morris. I descend from Henry Sampson. I cannot trace beyond him. His children were Caledonia, Sophia and John Sampson. I've always been told they were white, but found them listed as mulatto in records. There is some speculation that Sophia and John passed, and that my ancestor Caledonia by virtue of marrying a black man, continued to identify as mulatto. Her father was from Wilmington and the family was enumerated there in 1860 as white.
