Hello Hollis Gentry,

I am searching for relatives of Morris M. Sampson, born 1834 in N.C. Unfortunately, I do not know exactly where in N.C. Hence, I am following every Sampson that I can find in the hope that they have a "missing" ancestor that may turn out to be my great-grandfather. I cannot find Morris in any census prior to Florida's 1867 census. He lived in Madison, Florida in 1870 until his death circa 1883. He named his children Henry, Walter, Dennis, Ida, Preston, William, Charity, Ida and Johnnie Morris. Would you be kind enough to share with me what you know of your family tree? There is some evidence that he was an orphan in Fayetteville and adopted by a family named Harris or Patterson. He may have gone to Ohio in the 1850's and returned south after the war. Please let me know what you can about your own family. Maybe there is a lead somewhere. Thx. Joyce
