I have read Bastardy Bonds somewhere on the internet that talk about Proctor births in Charles County. Bastardy Bonds records talk about free women of clolor who had children out of wedlock and how they were punished and what happened to the child. Often the women were lashed after the birth and the child enslaved or indentured at birth. I wilklk look for the reference.
