I am trying to find information on Joseph Proctor. Joseph Proctor was my 5xgreatgrandfather and was from either St. James County, Maryland or Charles County, Maryland. He served in the American Revolution and migrated to Granville County, North Carolina after the war.
One of his daughters was Lucy Proctor who married James Thomas. Lucy and James lived later on in Ashe County, North Carolina where they became a part of the Trail of Tears- the forced removal to Oklahoma.
James died on the trip, and Lucy managed to escape with her children and took them to Letcher County, Kentucky where her father-in-law had gone.
I am interested in any info on Joseph Proctor and who his parents are.
