Re: Can Anyone Figure Out This Name ?

Paul, Lyndam,

Thanks for the advice and perspective. In the 1830 Campbell County, TN census there is a Stephen Perkins, FPOC, with a male child that matches Burrell Perkins. Based on the ages of the females, it's likely the mother is already deceased. There is also, a Burrell Chavis (FPOC) (over 55) who could have been related to Nancy, possibly a father. As well as a Dicy Chavis, FPOC, (over 55). So, Chavis looks to be likely choice. I'm just looking for a name to put on the chart. Burrell discusses his father in a brief biography in 1880 but I had not found anything about his mother before this marriage application. Burrell Perkins marries in 1836 and is listed in the 1840 Campbell, TN census. In the 1840 census, there are 2 Chavis families listed next to Burrell Perkins and his family. At this point, I'm not planning on researching these folks any further back. Documentation is just too scant and a lot of what's there is not indexed. Perhaps if I lived near the area I might be better able to find something. There is supposed to be an 1820 census for Campbell County but so far I haven't had any luck finding it. Again thanks for the help.

Ron
