Your web site is amazing! It is obvious that you have put a lot of time into it.

Every census and family story that we have for Nancy Bass Casey says that she was born in Kentucky. Many of the Bass families in SE Illinois and SW Indiana were from North Carolina. We had assumed that someday we would find a family connection for her there.

Because Nancy was married in Gibson County Indiana in 1841 and because there were three Bass families of color living in Gibson County on the 1840 census, we hoped that she belonged to one of them.

So far, we have not found either a Nelson, Sion or Jesse Bass on an 1820 census for Kentucky. We did find a Sion Bass on the 1820 census for Robeson, North Carolina.
