Burl is the grandson of Burrell Perkins. Burrell's son, Stephen was married before, but his children from that marriage are living with his former wife in another city. Lucy Guilford Cobb Perkins was in fact the mother of Burl Perkins. In this case, the census is incorrect, Burl is only 7 years, not 17 years. There is someone named Debra Smith McIntosh that has a huge family tree covering families in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. She has the Guilford family documented in her tree online.
