I have a copy of an original birth entry listings page from Antigua. My great-great grand parents are listed on this page as 'free people of colour'. Other families and people are listed as 'mulatto', 'negro' 'negress'and 'the property of'. Wondering if anyone has any info about Antigua? Who were the free people of colour there? My great-great grandfather is Thomas Weatherill and the entry for the birth of his daughter (Mary Francis Weatherill)is dated 15th September 1787. May never know......but hoping for some enlightenment! Seems like just about everyone else on this website has the American connection, but I am wondering if anyone knows specifically about how things worked in Antigua.
