It is not necessary for you to go to Raliegh, NC or pay for a death certificate ..although you might have to at some point.

Andrew Sauls age 30 and his wife Ada 30 appear on the 1910 census for Wayne Co. NC Natunta Twnship. They are listed with 3 children James age 4, Henry age 2 and Ed ??? (daughter) age 1. They say they were born in NC as were their parents...
Living above is another family........Henry Sauls32, wife Emma 24 and children..also on the same page is one Calop Sauls age 60 with wife Zanie age 60..

Guessing that Calop and Zanie might be the parents of the above I looked at the 1880 census which is at a free site......www.familysearch.org (Morman Church) There is Caleb Sauls age 35 wife Zany age 28, Henry age 4, Andrew age 2 and Mollie Sauls age 1 in Stantonsburg, Wilson County, NC. They all identify their place of birth as NC

You might want to see if there is a research facilitiy in your area where you can see these census records on microfilm or if they have Ancestry.com which they will allow you to use at the library. Or you can pay for one of the services online.
