Re: Black Irish: What is the meaning?
In Response To: Black Irish: What is the meaning? ()
I have not read all the responses so this, so this may be a repeat, but the term "Black Irish" refers to those who were Irish with dark hair and/or dark complexion. It is not traditionally a term of mixed race (although in the case of some who is part Irish and part Black, it could be). The term is similar to "Black Dutch" and "Black Polish" who were Europeans, German I believe, Polish too, who were darker complected, but not of mixed race. "Black" referred to dark hair color and sometimes darker skin color. Messages In This Thread
