I agree with you about not giving up on James Harris. With the available evidence, I can only conclude at this point that no connection is apparent. But that doesn't mean that we've exhausted every lead. Sometimes the evidence is nearby and we can't see it until we ask the right questions, re-evaluate the research, and search amongst records in places we've not previously searched.

I haven't been to Richmond in a long while, so I haven't poked around the records for new clues. It may well be that the answers lie partly in North Carolina, and partly in Virginia. James Harris has what I call a "V" migration pattern. He was born in Dinwiddie Co., VA, migrated to Orange Co., NC, then back into VA into Henry Co. I plan to attend NGS in Raleigh in May, so I may get a chance to look at the records in counties along the way, both down towards Orange from Dinwiddie, and then up towards Henry from Orange- perhaps the Harris family left records along the way.
