Re: Harris in Henry and Patrick Co. Virginia
In Response To: Re: Harris in Henry and Patrick Co. Virginia ()
This is a late reply although I think we corresponded privately some time ago. I'm researching the same line, only trying to go backwards to see if this Harris family connected to revolutionary war patriot James Harris of Patrick county. My inteest stems from a reference I found to a line of the Henry County Harris family claiming Nathan (b. ca 1800) descended from a woman named Dolly Harris (white) who had several mulatto children with her slave (husband) Nathan Harris, an African chief, and was attempting to unravel the true story. I've not been able to locate a Dolly Harris, but wonder if the descendants remembered the name incorrectly, when Milly was actually the mother's name. I saw Paul's post from some time ago that identified James Harris' children, but I didn't see evidence of his first wife's name, nor date and place of that marriage. I'm trying to sort out the children, as Keziah is apparently not his first wife. This is one of those cases where I will have to devote considerable research time, more than I'd planned. I am not related to this line, but attempting to trace descendants of the revolutionary war patriot to contemporary generations. Messages In This Thread
