I have a James Nathan I. Arnold born 1873, shows he was married to Scottie Gordon Applewhite...Then I also show a Nathaniel Arnold, married to Mary mcGaffy...but I don't have any details of where they were born..
Nathaniel Arnold was son of Holly Arnold..Holly was born 1806..
Holly's daughter Elizabeth Arnold married and had a son named Nathaniel as well..so the names Nathan and Nathaniel seem to be used a lot in the family...but I am not finding a Phil...
