Hi Martha,
I am deeply saddened by Josephine's passing. As you know, we have been friends for quite some time. Her next-door neighbor worked at the State Archives for many years. She contributed greatly by providing me with many of the pictures found in my book Early African-American Life in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, which was also her roots. I was glad that I got a chance to take her to Canada with me one Labor Day weekend and she was able to stand before the pulpit that was hand-carved by her great-great-great ancestor, Nasa McCurdy. Her Canadian cousins asked about her in July when I was at the Grinage reunion in Canada. She will certainly be missed by me.
