The Lewis's on this list all have family names found in the family of Francis Lewis and Mary Bressie of Mecklenburg Co. VA. Francis Lewis was a large landowner and slave holder north of Clarksville.
I have no specific information regarding his slaves except the will of Mary Bressie Lewis. Many of them were left to his wife upon his death and then distributed to his children after Mary's death. He had several male children where were also landholders and slaveholders.
I am also looking for a Benjamin Lewis who may have been a person of color associated with this Lewis family and also associated with the Chavous Family of Mecklenburg. If anyone can find a Benjamin Lewis in Mecklenburg 1790-1810 I am having a very hard time proving his existence.
