I am looking for a man named Benjamin Lewis in Mecklenburg Co. VA.

-He is associated with the Chavous family, a free black family that owned property in Mecklenburg Co.
-He witnessed the marriage of William Chavous and Priscilla Drew in 1806.
-Henry Chavous was indebted to him in 1804 and Henry's wife mortgaged some property to pay the debt.
-I do not know if Benjamin was a free man of color, but I have circumstantial evidence that he was. I have reason to believe that he is the same Benjamin Lewis listed variously as white or portuguese in the Floyd/Pike Co, Kentucky Census 1820-40 and who is associated in KY with Thomas Lewis, the son of Edward Lewis and Susannah Hester, white slaveholders from the vicinity of Clarksville.

Can you please look up the name Lewis in your 1809-1865 Mecklenburg County, Register of Free Negroes on the slim chance that he is listed there?
