Just a little more info about the Simpsons of Fayette County, Pennsylvania. According to Thomas J. Simpson's pension file, his father was Gilbert Simpson and his mother was Mary Ann ______ (her maiden name was not given). Thomas was born July 14, 1836 four miles from the city of Uniontown. He states his brothers living between 1850 and 1860 were Sam, James, and Wilson. His sisters were Martha Jane, Susana, Lucinda Jane and Nancy. Thomas married on September 12, 1865, Eliza Catherine Redman in Brownsville, Pa by Squire Rigdon. Thomas and Eliza had the following children: James, born Sept. 10, 1866 (killed in coal mine Laura Bell, born Sept. 9, 1868 Pelineya (Pauline) born Sept. 15, 1870 (died in the cholera infantum Charles "Charley", born Dec. 17, 1872 Eliza, born Jan. 17, 1874 Amy Ann, born Feb. 18, 1876 Gilbert, born May 26, 1878 Alvin, born Apr. 17, 1880 Isaac, born Dec. 15, 1882 Harriet "Hattie", born Apr. 15, 1884, died in the cholera infantum Peter, born Mar. 1, 1886, died in the cholera infantum Nettie, born July 1, 1889 Allice, born Dec. 1, 1891

Another Civil War vet, Thomas Sorrell married (1st), Mary P. Brooks and (2nd), Mary J. Simpson on Dec. 28, 1859. Thomas died Jan. 26, 1912. Mary Jane Simpson Sorrell and Thomas Sorrell's children were: John, b. Sept. 3, 1861 Jennie, b. Sept. 15, 1863 Harvey, b. Mar. 30, 1865 Harriet, b. Mar. 28, 1867 Joseph, b. May 12, 1869 Duncan, b.
