Noah E & Mary B King~Globetrekking.

Fellow genealogist I need some inspiration with the hunt for my 4xgreat grandparents. The couple are known as Noah E and Mary B King. Both were born in Maryland in the late 1820s. By 1852, the pair and at least 2 children are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From here the Kings become involved in the Black Diasporain the late 50s which led many fpc to seek refugee in kinder climates like Liberia, Mexico, Canada or in their case Haiti. There in Haiti safe from the raging Civil War, the King family continued to grow and at least one of their daughters marry (Grandmere Amelia King Guillory). Unrest on the island caused the family to leave about 1868. They return to the States but not to Penn. or Md. The 1870 census picks them up in Connecticut. They don't stay long because by 1880 the couple are in Michigan which is their final homestead. Mary J dies between 1880-1900 and Noah E 1911-20. My problems are: have not located them in the 1850 census, I don't even know if they were "legally" free or "runaways". Someone told me I should try to find their port of reentry to the U.S. I think they had some small connection to Bishop Theodore Holly. Any help with Noah and Mary King would be appreciated.
