Thats what I figured. Then that would mean by ancestor Louis Sam fathered another child before he was married to my gggg grandmother then. Her name would be Elisabeth Pierre. And it opens the door for some more research. These testimonies were dictated by someone in the courtroom. Its more probable that Casimir would be his uncle instead of his cousin....BUT... in the 1900 census of Lafayette Parish, in the household of Sanville Leblanc, Angelique's relationship to the head of the household is listed as cousin as well. There was also another Man of color they interviewes as well stating he was the 1st cousin of Casimir as well. His name was Martin White. Both of their mothers were sisters. Martin White was the son of Jean White, an irishman, & Euprosine Masse. Their were other children as well. And it is possible that is was some wierd error in the transcriptions of the testimony.
