Hi Rodney The first Joubert in colonial Opelousas/St. Landry Parish area was Pierre Joubert. The earliest census listing I've seen him was in the 1766 Opelousas census. His was listed as Pedro Joben. On the 1770 Opelousas Militia roll it had Pierre Jobert 36y/o from France. And on the 1771 Names of men at Opelousas listed him as Pierre Joubert dit Bellerose 39y/o. He married the Catherine Pitre, sister of Francois Pitre. Yes, the same Francois Pitre who freed Caroline. If you look in the 1850 St. Landry Parish census, it list 2 Jouberts that are black. They were proberly freed by Pierre Jouberts children. Keep on searching. Ricky Messages In This Thread
