My FPOC name is CARR from MD. The women always cohabitated with white men as far as I can find. They moved to Louisiana about 1830, and the women continued to be the mates of white men. I believe my MAPLES family from Kentucky were also FPOC, but I can't prove it yet. My FORD family from Arkansas were freed before the end of the Civil War, because they purchased land in 1857 in Louisiana, but I don't know how early they were free. The land--a farm, was sold in the late 1980s, my mother received a share of the proceeds. I am also researching my cousins FPOC, one is a CHAVIS from Granville NC, and the other a BASS from Orange, NC> Messages In This Thread |
