Re: FPOC'S & Inter-familial connections

The surnames that I connect to are Chavis, Gale(s), Weaver, Simpson, Nickens, Copeland, and Woodson. This is off the top of my head. Also, I have that PA, OH, and WV connection with you. For ex. my Gales is from MD and is currently living in Pittsburgh. My Simpsons are from Fayette County, PA. All of the rest are VA and NC.

Hello Linda,

Looks like we have some common connections....the Gales in particular. here is the link to an article I posted on AfriGeneas back in 2000.

The James Gales in this article has/had many family memebers in the Urbana, Ohio area. A grandson of his, William Franklin Gales married a Frances "Fannie" Hawkins. I believe Wiiliam may have been a Dentist. They lived in the Pittsburgh area and passed away there....Fannie 25 Aug 1935, not sure of William's death date.

There are other connections of the Gales family in Urbana to the Adams, Lancaster, Scott & Tudor families. I would be happy to exchange information with you. The most recent Gales in my database is a Richard A. "Crock" Gales, a retired Army Col. who died at W-PAFB, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio in 1975.

An interesting Simpson connection is that of a Rosalind Gertrude Simpson from Westmoreland Co., in PA. She was the mother of my wife's brother-in-law, Paul Jones and she lived (1891-1994) to be 103 years of age. I find her as a classmate of my grandfather's sister, Marie Ann Adams, from Urbana, Ohio at Wilberforce University in the Wilberforce Student Catalog of 1910.

I have a "goodly" :D amount of information on the other surnames you mentioned. So, I'm sure we have much information to share and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
