I am researching Goin(g)s in Albemarle. I was lost for a moment and finally contacted the Carter G. Woodson Institute (which has a link from Afrigeneas) and I believe they ( or the person they put me into contact with ) gave me the registration of my great great great grandfather in Albemarle County cica 1828. Again there is a great article in "The Magazine of Albemarle County History, vol 53, 1995 by Mr. Ervin L. Jordan, Jr. which list "free blacks and mulattoes". After reading this and the tax and property record, I believe I have some good evidence.
