I'm looking for info on my g-g-g grandfather Cullen MANLEY or MANLY, born in 1806 or 1809 somewhere in North Carolina. Presumably, he was born free, because he was literate. He migrated to Arkansas with Cherokees before the Removal of 1838-39, was a light-skinned "mulatto" and was a trainer of thoroughbred horses. I would be interested to know if anyone has run across his name in their genealogical research and may have any details about where in North Carolina he was born, his parents or siblings.
