I am very interested in the Shoecraft family, as it has been alledged that the Shoecraft and my line of Nickens are the same family, William Shoecraft having been a hostage provided to the Reverend Benjamin Doggett by Indian Commissioner John Carter. Doggett was granted a license to keep an Indian.

I am unclear on the Shoecraft migration to Canada, but there may be some link to the families ( Bass, Weaver, ect.) who built the round stone barns of Wisconsin. You can google some info on the round barns, but the details were provided by the Moss family of Wisconsin, originally found in the household of Hiram Revels in North Carolina @ 1790.
