Speaking of "Black Codes", I ran across a website the other day - and now I can't find the bookmark - will go back and dig it up if I can, with a kind of black code established by Treaty between the Cherokee Nation and the US gov - denying all those with "Negro blood" participation in tribal affairs. I know that lots of us have some Native ancestry - but we should avoid romanticizing the relationships between AA's and Native Nations - which were not always positve.
