That reminds of something I saw will looking for my relatives on the 1900 census of Louisiana in Calseiu Parish. I few houses ahead of my relatives was a man who listed his birthplace as Egypt along with his parents. His color was listed as Black. I thought that was VERY interesting. It also reminds of the story of the author Susan Tademy on her family from Louisiana. Her gg grandfather was an Egyptian fisherman who was captured into slavery by slavetraders and somehow wound up in America. It looks like we might have an unknown or little known story in American history.
