Foundation of the Guillory family

The purpose of this entry is to share information about the origins of the 2nd generation afro-franco Guillorys of St. Landry Parish in Louisiana. I was prompted to script this message because of the abundant amount of erroneous data out in web. So I would like to correct some of the damage that has been done over the years to our Guillory ancestors.
The first generation of the afro-franco Guillory clan were the four mulatto children born to Marguerite and her french master Joseph-Gregoire Guillory. The children comprised of two sons (Jean-Baptiste and Joseph) and two daughters (Catherine and Anne-Marie). Of the four children the eldest Catherine "Catiche" had no proven issues. On the other hand, Marguerite's youngest child Anne-Marie had at least one quadroon daughter before her marriage to her Spanish paramour Juan A. Mattheo. Through Anne-Marie's progeny, the Guillory clan were connected to the Matteo, Lede and Durousseau families of the parish.
Of the two boys, Jean-Baptiste was the eldest and patriarch of the Guillorys. It is he and his descendants that are the senior branch of the family. His marriage to Catherine-Victoire Donato Bello established familial bonds between the Guillory and Donatto clans which still exist to this day. From their union eight children were to grow to maturity and leave offsprings.

Joseph Guillory, the younger son of Marguerite, established the cadet line of the mulatto Guillorys. Joseph sired eleven children. Ten children were by his child-bride Heloise Cheval-Meuillon, the step-neice of his sister-in-law Catherine-Victoire. The one remaining child, his oldest and namesake, was born out of an affair with a Marie Lavigne.

I will attempt to list the children of Jean-Baptiste and Joseph in the order of their births. I hope this information will help those who may be confused.

The eight children of Jean-Baptiste and Catherine-Victoire Donato Bello are: 1st) Jean-Baptiste, fils married Marguerite Carabaillo; 2nd) Callixte married Jean Allain; 3rd) Marie Celeste married Cazimir Rougeau; 4th) Louis Denis Martin married Marianne Papillon; 5th) Evariste married Marianne Folchs; 6th) Marie Louise married Francois Birot; 7th) Donate Jean Louis married Francoise Simien; 8th) Louis Casimir married Cydonise Thierry. Of these eight only two (Evariste and Louis Casimir) remarried after the death of spouses.

Joseph Guillory and his paramour Marie Lavigne had a son: 1st) Joseph married Louise Tessier and Marianne Papillon.

Joseph Guillory and his wife Heloise Cheval-Meuillon had the following: 2nd) Marie Louise married Onesime Lede; 3rd) Francois married Adelaide Guillory, Louise Charlotte Forstall, and Marie Lesidia Metoyer; 4th) Joachim married Victoire Rougeau and Adele Papillon; 5th) Basilide married Jean Baptiste Brignac and Joseph Thierry; 6th) Heloise married Antoine Pain; 7th) Genevieve Celestine married George Simien, fils; 8th) Manuel married Marie Denise Guillory; 9th) Alphege married Felonise Papillon; 10th) Onesime married Marianne Guillory and Marie Phelonise Victoriane; 11th) Euphrasie married Sosthene Simien.
