Simpsons in PA
In Response To: Re: Dickens/Dickins/Deacons - Simpson in PA ()
Linda e-mailed me this link. I corresponded re it a while back. Just wondering about the Ned Simpson connection mentioned here? Linda and I connect through Hiram and Nancy Simpson. They were my ggg grandparents and they lived in East Bethlehem Township, Washington County, PA from at least 1840-1880. I haven't been able to find who Hiram's parents were, nor do I know Nancy's maiden name. I also don't know when Hiram died or where he's buried. I believe Hiram's family migrated from Ireland/Scotland through New York or York, Pa to Fayette County. I believe Nancy and her family were black or mulatto. The census' sometimes list them as white and other times as mulatto. Nancy died in 1898 at her son-in-law's home in Dearth, Pa. He was Joseph Thomas, a black man who migrated from Virginia. Nancy's daughter, Charlotte Simpson, married him. Does anyone have further info on Ned, or any other Simpsons in Fayette, or Washington, that may connect to my family?
