My definition of a Free Person of Color is from how I've seen them classified in records of the time: a non-white, person who was Free during Slavery times. I will leave it up to researchers to verify whether or not that person may have been black, black/white, black/white/Indian or any other mixture or race that was non-white, but as far as most of the governments were concerned, these people were not free white people, and therefore, classified as Free Colored People.
