Re: Charity Chavis Drake
In Response To: Re: Charity Chavis Drake ()
All I have found on John Chavis's father is that his son was called John Chavis JUNIOR when he was still in VA...So maybe John's father was also named John...
A lot of information on John Chavis is in the book, *John Chavis, African American Preacher, Teacher and Mentor*...I don't recall that his parents went to Carolina, but he himself went to Raleigh in 1807 and opened a school there..
All I have for my Charity Chavis is that she was born in VA, and her son John was born in Carolina..Just, Carolina..This is from the pre-marriage document of John Aaron Drake Jr and Rosalia Abshire, dated 1800 in the Church of St. Martin Attapakas..
I am just now getting more info on the likely parents or even grandparents of my John and Charity...
John's and Rosalia's son, John the 3rd, was living in
Lower Sabine, Calcasieu, Louisiana in 1880..
Where Charity herself had lived in LA, I dont' know...
John the 3rd's daughter was Ellender Drake Smithheart...
