Miguel Papillon " That's name don't wear it out!"
In Response To: La mere de meres: acte en deux ()
I consider myself an amateur at this game but I am also an old one. For the last 15 years I have been on the hunt to track down Miguel Papillon's ancestry and it has been an amazing voyage. And like I stated in my previous entry about his wife Eulalie Simon Lacour, I am thrice a Papillon descendent. So naturally I have an innate attraction towards this particular ancestor. Right now I trying to piece together my theories about his mother and grandparents and I can reassure EVERYONE that his name known to HIMSELF was MIGUEL PAPILLON. MY evidence is the man's own signature. Miguel was then gallicized into Michel later. This is the reason that I ceased using the french form because the man obviously knew his own name. And as for as his surname, I truly believe that he wanted some that was his own. He did not want his master's name but he want a name that symbolized the person he was. Being bi/tri-racial, I sense Miguel identified himself and his hodgepodge background to the colorful insect the butterfly or in Miguel's time" un mariposa" or "un papillon". So I GUAA-RRAN-TEEE that Papillon and Pampalona are two different names.
Also the Opelousas Man wanted to know about Eulalie Simon Lacour's connection to the Piqueri and Boilleau. The two groups are her 1st cousins on her paternal side. The Piqueri and Boilleau are siblings and via their mother,Marianne, are kinsfolk to Eulalie.
