My maiden name was Willis. I am from Westmoreland County, Virginia, born and raised. My Paternal Ancestors were said to be of Spanish descent who sailed to Leedstown Port with a ship fullof Malvice (moloasses) and some became any at others on the ship and decided to stay, this was early 18th century or late 1700's? My immediate ancestors mated with Willis slaves, thus we are of the black race, although a lot of us look hispanic. Our ancestors were raised on Twyla Plantation at Leedstown, VA which is near George Washington's Birthplace. I need more information on the Willis's who lived in the county in 17th and 18th centuries.
