Does anyone know anything about the Reed family in Westmoreland Virginia. I was able to trace my maternal ancestor back to 1840 and she was listed as a free person of color (Felicia Reed). Unfortunaltly they only list the heads of the house, so I cannot find her in 1830 census. Interestingly enough, my mtdna haplogroup is U: which is european, however as far back as I can trace 1840 all the women are African American. If anyone has any information about this surname and the Reed's in Virginia,would be great.
